Electronics & Communication Engineering
Sree Buddha College of Engineering is one of the pioneers in introducing the Bachelor Program for Electronics and Communication Engineering in Kerala. The department of Electronics & Communication Engineering, started in the year 2002, has carved a niche for itself by offering the most competent instructional programme to the students. At present the sanctioned intake is 60 with a provision of admitting six diploma holders in the third semester under lateral entry scheme. The department also offers M Tech programme in Embedded Systems from the year 2010 onwards. The sanctioned intake is 18.
Ms. Ambika Sekhar
Ms. Ambika Sekhar took her B.Tech degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering, from Mahatma Ghandhi University,Kottayam in 2004 and M.Tech from University of Kerala in year 2008. She started her career as a faculty of Electronics and Communication in 2004. She is a member of Board of Examination for both B.Tech and M.Tech programmes in Electronics and Communication Engineering at University of Kerala and Mahatma Ghandhi University. She has got a number of publications in conferences and journals

ELECTRONIC TECHNOCRATS ASSOCIATION (ETA)
ETA is the association of the Electronic & Communication students of Sree Buddha college of Engineering. The association aims at improving the technical skills of the students by organizing and conducting different workshops and technical competitions.
ELECTRONICS TECHNOCRATS ASSOCIATION 2015-2016
Department activities of the academic year 2015-16 was inaugurated on August 2015 stupendously with the aid of the staff and students of ECE department. The program was hosted at 9.30 in the morning at the Conference Hall. The program was inaugurated by Dr.Thomaskutty Mathew (Reader, Dept Of Electronics, M.G university). After the inauguration address, a talk was presented by the guest of honor on RFID TECHNOLOGY: CHALLENGES AND APPLICATIONS. Later on, some technical events were conducted such as Loud Speaker and Electromemory.

Dr. E .Gopalakrishna Sharma, Principal, Sree Buddha College of Engineering for Women, Elavumthitta inaugurated the ETA activities for the year 2014-2015 on 27-08-2014 at a function arranged at the Conference Hall in library block. Later he delivered a talk on “Employability”.

Mr. R.Rajaram, Retd Divisional Engineer (BSNL Mobile Services), Trivandrum inaugurated the ETA activities for the year 2012-2013 on 22-08-2012 at Conference Hall, Library block. Later he delivered a talk on “A peep into telecom networks”.

ETA INAUGURAL CEREMONY
ETA INAUGURATION 2015
The inaugural ceremony of ETA, Electronics Technocrats Association for the year 2015 was held on 4th of August. The meeting began with the presidential address by the Principal, Dr. Suresh Babu. He gave valuable comments for the students of the college to come out with “start-up”. The inaugural address was delivered by the honorable chief guest, Mr. Thomaskutty Mathew. The gathering was then addressed by Prof. E.K.Bhass and Mr.K.K.Sivadasan.The chief guest discussed the concepts of RFID (Radio Frequency Identification Technology). Among the various types of RFID techniques available, he focused on UHF RFID (Ultra High Frequency RFID). He presented the concept of Electro-magnetic waves, its spectrum, frequency range and application. The use of microwaves in mobile phones near also discussed. The enormous number of applications of RFID was then explained. Small RFID chips are in corporate in consumer products, and implanted in pets for identification purposes.RFID can be used for the purpose of automatically identifying and tracking tags attached to objects. The tags (RFID Tags) contain electronically stored information. Unlike a barcode, the tag does not necessarily need to be within the line of sight of reader and may be embedded in the tracked object. Back scatter modulation near then dealt with RFID will not work in liquids and metals. That was pointed out to be one of the main demerits of RFID.After this valuable session, he also found time to interact with the students. The vote of thanks was delivered by Prof. Jasmine Basheer, coordinator of ETA.After the meeting elocution completion and electro-memory were organized and conducted by the students of ECE. The result of the competition was announced soon and the prizes were distributed. The programme was concluded with the National Anthem.
"Teens & Drugs” and “Gateway to Electronics”- Student Awareness Program at Vivekananda Vidya Peedom
The Extension Activity Cell of the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, SBCE, conducted an extension programme on August 22nd 2014 at Vivekananda Vidya Peedom, Attuva, Alappuzha. The title of the activity was “Teens and Drugs” and “Gateway to Electronics”. The programme was attended by the students of classes 5,6,7,8. A total of 62 students including 33 boys and 29 girls attended the programme. The first session of the programme was an awareness class on Smoking and Use of drugs. The second session targeted on providing an awareness among students regarding various abuses like physical abuse, sexual abuse, emotional abuse and neglects that children face. The third session was Gateway to Electronics, which presented an introduction to various basic electronic components, the importance of electronics in the present era and a mini expo.

Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, with the perspective of making students aware of their social responsibilities conducted an extension programme on 6th July 2015 in Govt. UPS Pandalam. The programme involved the active participation of PG and UG students of the Dept. in promoting awareness among school students regarding the abuse of drugs and smoking and providing measures against child abuse in the light of increasing atrocities against children. The programme was titled “TEENS & DRUGS” and “CHILD SAFETY”. The mission of the programme was to curb drug abuse among teenagers for a promising future generation and to prepare children to fight against any form of abuse against them. The programme involved the active participation of PG and UG students. The following student volunteers were actively involved in the Extension activity conducted on 6th July 2015 by the department: Ms. Geethu Jayan, Mr. Melwin Mathew Philip, Mr. Prajeesh P, Mr. Aravind M, Mr. Midhun Easo Daniel, Ms. Aswathy S Pillai (M.Tech Embedded Systems); Ms. Sivarenjini, Ms. Karthika Sugathan, Mr. Arun S, Mr. Abhijith S (S5 B.Tech ECE). They were accompanied by the HOD of ECE, Prof. Ambika Sekhar, Advisor of S5 students, Prof Aryalekshmi M and Dept. Extension Cell Coordinator, Prof. Athira Shaji. The first session of the programme titled “Teens and Drugs” was an awareness class on smoking and use of drugs. The session described about the harmful effects of tobacco and other tobacco products, alcohol and drugs to the students and made them to pledge against the use of these materials. We encouraged the students to report about the shops selling these products to their elders or to their parents. The session provided information to the students regarding the laws in India against the selling and consumption of such harmful products. The second session titled “Child Safety” targeted on providing awareness among students regarding various abuses like physical abuse, sexual abuse, emotional abuse and neglects that children face. The session gave tips to the students on what to do on such occasions, the law in India against child abuses and also asked them to note down the child helpline and women helpline telephone numbers 1098 and 1091 respectively.
