Electrical & Electronics Engineering

The department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering was established on 2004, as the sixth department of  this college with an annual intake of 60 students.The Degree offered was B Tech in Electrical and Electronics Engineering. An M Tech programme in Electrical Machines was started in 2014 with an annual intake of 24 students.                                    The department was dedicated to the promotion of excellence in Engineering education imparting knowledge to the students in the field of Electrical Engineering  and Electronics Engineering so that they can succesfully complete their graduation and get proper placement. Our students stands in fifth position in Kerala University and  a good number of them occupy prestigious position  with in the country and abroad.                                       The laboratories are well equipped for the conduct of the existing courses. The facilities available in the department are sufficient to meet the requirements of  B Tech and M Tech project works. The department has well equipped computer ceter with internet access. In addition to the central libraby , there is a department library  and most of the books prescribed in the syllabus are also available there.                           Existing faculty and supporting staff are highly qualified, experienced and dedicated . All of the teachers are M tech/ M.E holders. Some are doing PhD also. The advisory system is very effective in regular evaluation of students and intimating progress to the student’s parents. Almost all of the students passed out from the department are well placed. Many students have got GATE score. The department has excellent contact with the  neighbouring industries.The department has a news letter named Impulse published monthly.DEPARTMENT VISIONTo be a source of knowledge excellence and to produce best trained innovative and socially responsible Electrical Engineers.DEPARTMENT MISSION To transform and build sudents who have high caliber, strong knowledge base and professional skill to a day to day changing Electric field.

Dr. Benny Thomas

Dr Benny Thomas joined as a lecturer in the Department of Electrical Engineering at T K M College of Engineering, Kollam in 1995. In 1982, he has been promoted as Assistant Professor. He became the Professor and Head of EEE in the year 2001 and continued till 2006. After his retirement he was working as Principal in an Engineering in Tamil Nadu till March 2016.His masters and doctoral degrees are  from Indian Institute of Science, Banglore

Mr. JAYARAMAN, Senior Manager-Projects, BPCL, Cochin Refinery inaugurated the Tachyons activities for the year 2013 - 2014 on 04-04-2013 at a function arranged at the Library Conference Hall. Later he delivered a talk on “Talk on energy conservation and sustainable energy development”. Mr. JAYARAMAN C (senior manager (projects) - BPCL Kochi Refinery) giving inaugural address at Sree Buddha College of Engineering, Pattoor on 4th April 2013.

UDHBODH-2013 in association with TACHYONS

Prof. (Dr.) M Jayaraju (Director ANERT) was the chief guest during UDHBODH and inaugurated the program at Sree Buddha College of Engineering on 10th October 2013. Mr. Ganesh (2013 EEE Batch topper) was awarded the ‘Chanakaya’ award. Also the toppers of S3 and S5 were felicitated. ‘IMPULSE’ the news letter from the department was also inaugurated by Prof. (Dr.) M Jayaraju. Mr. P. MURALEEDHARAN, Chief Engineer, Transmission South, KSEB Ltd, Vydyuthi Bhavanam, Pattom, Thiruvananthapuram inaugurated the Tachyons activities for the year 2014 - 2015 on 28-01-2014 at a function arranged at the Library Conference Hall.

Renewable Integration to Kerala grid

One day workshop on “Renewable Integration to Kerala grid” was organized by the Electrical & Electronics DepartmentAssociation DELTA of Sree Buddha College of Engineering, Pattoor at the Electrical Department seminar hall on 15th October 2015. Prof. S Arumugasamy, Head of the Department of EEE welcomed the gathering, Dr. S Suresh Babu, Principal,Sree Buddha College of Engineering delivered presidential address and the honorable chief guestDr. Sasidharan Sreedharan, Post - Doctoral Researcher, Renewable Energy Design Laboratory, University of Hawaii, Manoa, USA.inaugurated the workshop. PG dean & HOD of Civil Department Dr. E K Bhass also shared the Dias.Details of electrical power generation and integration of various renewable energy sources into the grid from the perspective of Kerala state.In this context the challenges and solutions were presented by the chief guest.An interactive session of the chief guest with PG students also took place later in the afternoon session regarding the execution of their M.Tech thesis

As a part of extension activities, department launched a project named “Energy Management and Rural Electrification” involving both faculty members and students. Major activities included Energy auditing, testing of electrical installations and study classes. Project has carried out house wiring and electrification for a BPL family. LED bulbs were distributed among 25 families with the support of college management.
