Sree Buddha College of Engineering promotes research and consultancy in the frontier areas of Science and Technology. The PG Interdisciplinary Forum, headed by the Dean (PG) encourages and coordinates research activities in the institution.

The institution has signed MoU with Oushadhi, Thrissur and received Government of India (AYUSH) funding for an amount of Rs. 21.2 Lakhs and based on this collaborative research work in the field of Ayurvedic formulations, and has research publications. As part of this collaboration, Oushadhi is offering internships for the students of the institution.

SBCE has signed another MoU with Universiti Sains, Malaysia (USM) for research, faculty exchange and student exchange and has initiated collaborative research projects. Two Post Graduate students of the college had done their project work at USM.

The institution encourages members of faculty to do research activities by providing infrastructural facilities, library facility, human resource support, duty leave, and transportation and accommodation facilities. Above all, the college facilitates timely release of funds for carrying out research projects and provides seed money. The institution has already provided seed money of Rs. 7 Lakhs for the research on Genetic Profiling Study on Kerala Population and has published papers in an international journal. SBCE has earmarked 20% of its total budget for research work.
