THE INSTITUTION OF ENGINEERS (INDIA)

The Institution of Engineers (India) [IE (I)] established in 1920 and incorporated by Royal Charter in 1935, is a statutory body to promote and advance the engineering and technology. It is the largest multi-disciplinary professional body of engineers encompassing 15 (fifteen) engineering disciplines with a membership of more than 820 thousand, and serving the nation for more than 9 decades.

The Department of Mechanical Engineering initiated the IE (I) student’s chapter on 22^nd March 2018 comprising 116 student members with Prof. Madhav K as the faculty coordinator and Prof. Anwar Rajeev as the faculty advisor. The chapter was inaugurated by Er. P.Rajendraprasad, Chairman, Kollam Local Centre in the distinguished presence of Sri. K. Sasikumar, Honble Chairman, SBCE, Er.K.Sivadasan, Honorary Secretary, IE (I) Kollam Local Centre; Sri. K.K.Sivadasan, Treasurer, SBCE and Dr. S Suresh Babu, Principal, SBCE. The inaugural function was followed by the celebration of “World Water Day”.

Live Webinar on “Graphene the wonder material, Properties and applications”

Dr Wazeem Nishad, an alumni of Sree Buddha College of Engineering did the expert talk for the webinar titled “Graphene the wonder material. Properties and Applications”. He gave a technical talk which covered almost the entire spectrum related with Graphene. The talk included the various fabrications methods, application areas and properties of Graphene. Also, a career guidance for the final year students was given in how to choose research career path after completing their graduation.

Live Webinar on Energy Conservation for Sustainable Development

Department of Mechanical Engineering, Sree Buddha College of Engineering in association with Institution of Engineers (India) Kollam Local Centre conducted a webinar on ‘Energy Conservation for Sustainable Development” on 14th December 2020. Mr. Renjith Raj R (Certified energy Auditor and Manager, BEE Govt. of India) gave an in-depth speech about the various energy production lines in India and around the globe. He explained about various low energy alternative devices for which we rely for our day-to-day life, how the energy consumption in a building is measured. He also suggested many sustainable practises which we can follow in our daily life. 80 Participants attended the webinar. 80 participants attended the webinar. Engineers Day Celebration & Live Webinar on “Flood Risk Management and Measures for Flood Hazard Mitigation

Sree Buddha College of Engineering, Pattoor celebrated Engineer’s Day on 15th September 2020. As part of the celebration an online webinar about “Flood Risk Management and Measures for Flood Hazard Mitigation” was carried out. The resource person for the program was Dr. R. Gopakumar, (Former Scientist, CWRDM, Kozhikode). The Institution of Engineers (India) students Chapter of Department of Mechanical Engineering, Sree Buddha College of Engineering and The Institution of Engineers (India) Kollam Local Centre jointly conducted the webinar.

Live Webinar on Production Design using ANSYS

Sree Buddha College of Engineering, Pattoor conducted one day webinar on Production Design using ANSYS on 11th August 2020. The Institution of Engineers (India) students Chapter of Department of Mechanical Engineering, Sree Buddha College of Engineering, Nexus Technical Solutions and The Institution of Engineers (India) Kollam Local Centre jointly conducted the webinar.

120 participants attended the webinar. Inaugural function of webinar was held at CAD Lab of Mechanical Engineering Department. Mr. Anwar Rajeev, Faculty Advisor, IEI Students’ Chapter gave the welcome address.
The function was presided over by Mr. Madhav K, College coordinator IEI. In his presidential address he explained about the role of various CAD/CAM software and the importance of expertise over this software in the career path of students.
Mr. Prasanth, Senior Faculty, Nexus CAD Training Centre handled the live webinar. He explained about the versatility of ANSYS software and elaborated the steps in product design using ANSYS with an example problem.
Prof. Harikrishnan, Assistant Professor, Dept. of ME, SBCE gave the vote of thanks.

Workshop on Google SketchUp

The Institution of Engineers (India) students’ chapter of the Department of Mechanical Engineering conducted four day workshop on Google SketchUp for the third semester undergraduate students during 11 -16 October 2018. The workshop was conducted by Nexus Technical Solutions, Chengannur, Kerala under the aegis of the Institution of Engineers (India) Kollam Local Centre. The inaugural function of the workshop was held at the Seminar hall of the Department Mechanical Engineering. Dr. Saji Varghese, HoD, Department of Mechanical Engineering welcomed the gathering and gave a talk on the emerging trends in the field of designing and manufacturing. The function was presided over by Dr. S Suresh Babu, Principal, Sree Buddha College of Engineering. He described the importance of various CAD/CAM tools and the role its expertise plays in the career path of students. Sri. K.K. Sivadasan, Treasurer, Sree Buddha College of Engineering inaugurated the function. Prof Madhav K, IE(I) Coordinator, facilitated the gathering and pointed out the role of CAD tools in the career of a design engineer. Prof Anwar Rajeev, IE(I) Staff Coordinator, Dept. of Mechanical Engineering gave the vote of thanks. The session was handled by Sri Suresh Kumar S, Business Manager, Autodesk ATC, Nexus Technical Solutions.
