ELECTRA’24 

Department of ECE organized Technical Fest on 8-4-2024. Prof. K Sasikumar, Chairman of sree buddha college of engineeing inaugurated the fest. ROBO SOCCER, RC RACE, FUN ZONE, E-SPORTS & BASS BLAST Programmes were conducted during fest.

BIS STANDARD CLUB

Department of Electronics and communication Engineering formed BIS standard club. As part of BIS club activity Dept. of ECE organized an orientation session on “Consumer awareness and quality building” and conducted a standard writing completion of 12-03-2024.

NATIONAL SCIENCE DAY CELEBRATIONS 2024: The Department of Electronics & Communication in association with Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC), Innovation Entrepreneurship Development Centre (IEDC) & Institution of Engineers (IEI) celebrated National Science Day on 28th February 2024. National Science Day, commemorating the epoch-making discovery of ‘Raman Effect’ by Dr. C. V. Raman in 1928. This year, the celebration, marking the growth of Science in India, has the theme “Indigenous Technologies for Viksit Bharat”. The program commenced with a drand inauguration by esteemed guest, Dr. Imthias Ahamed T P, Professor ,TKM College of engineering followed by an enlightening technical talk on “Generative AI”. Later in the day, students of various departments participated enthusiastically in a challenging quiz competition, showcasing theirknowledge and passion for science. A total of 8 teams were participated in quiz competition & the winners are Mr. Ashwin satheesh and Ms. Siyana Abdul Razak.

CAREER GUIDANCE by GuidEd Overseas : Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering conducted a career guidance session for B-Tech students on 26th February 2024 at BT seminar hall. 50 students from various departments were attend the session

International Women’s Day Celebration (Digital Innovation & Technology for Gender Equality).

As a part of women’s day celebration Department of ECE Conducted “Pencil Drawing competition” on 8/3/2023 for students. The theme was “Digital Innovation & Technology for Gender Equality”. There was a motivational talk by Dr.Jency Blesson,Joint-Director,Jewel autism center,India & Dubai on 9/3/2023 from 10am to 12:30pm.

 One day workshop on Intellectual property rights & IP Management for startup by Vidyalekshmi Vinod(Women scientist-C Alumni, NIPAM Trainer) in association with IIC and IEDC conducted on 3rd march, 2023 . The programme was organized by Prof. Pooja S Mohan

 A one day workshop on “3D Printing” was organized by Prof. Chinchu S, Dept. of ECE on 19/12/2022. The session was handled by Open leaves (Start-up Company of the department). 

A two day Workshop on “IoT using Arduino”,was organized by Prof. Pavitha P. P during 20- 21 October 2022. The sessions were handled by Open leaves (Start-up Company of ECE department).

A 5 day Online workshop on “ IoT Product development” was conducted from 20/07/2020 to 24/07/2020 which is one of our flagship venture during this Covid pandemic time to reach out the enthusiasts. The workshop took off with an eminent talk on ” An introduction to IoT” from two industrial experts Mr.Aditya Sekhar , Technical Lead and Ms.Vaishnavi Abhirami, Software Development Engineer (IOT). The afternoon session was handled by Prof.Ambika Sekhar ,where she gave a brief introduction to ” Getting Started with IoT Product Development”.From day two onwards Prof. Jayaraj V S took charge of handling the session for the rest of the days. The Programme Coordinators were Prof. Ambika Sekhar, Prof. Pooja S Mohan.


A Webinar on “COVID-19 : Business Impact and how to prepare for the challenges” was organized by Department of ECE on 17/7/2020 . The sessions were handled by Mr. Manoj Krishna M., Service Delivery Manager at EY Global Delivery Services & Mr.Subish Ram, Director, GDS Automation, EY Global Delivery Services, Trivandrum, India. The programme Coordinators were Prof. Anu V S and Prof. Pooja S Mohan.

Three day hands-on Workshop: The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering at Sree Buddha College of Engineering, Pattoor organized a three day hands-on Workshop on “Arduino and Sensors” from 06/01/2020 – 08/01/2020 for students of 2nd semester ECE. The main objective of this Workshop was to introduce the participants to Basic Arduino programming and Interfacing of various sensors and also to make them create their own products at the end of third day

Two day workshop: Department of Electronics and Communication engineering in association with IEDC cell and Electronics Technocrats Association (ETA) has conducted a workshop on ROBOTICS DESIGN & DEVELOPMENT on 25/10/2019 and 26/10/2019. It was a two-day program for the engineering students to improve skills in Robotics and IoT. The workshop was conducted by Dr. Sreekanth Madhavan, CEO and Mr. Akash P., CTO of Kabani Tech, Shornur, Palakkad


Project Competition: The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, Sree BuddhaCollege of Engineering organized ‘Shastra’19’ in association with IEDC of SBCE on 15 th October 2019 marking the 88 th birth anniversary of APJ Abdul Kalam.Shastra was a project competition for the higher secondary students intended to disseminate the knowledge of science and technology. The curtain of the event was raised with the inauguration on 15 th October at 10:30 am by K.K. Sivadasan,Treasurer of Sree Buddha Educational Society.



Three days workshop: The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering at Sree Buddha College of Engineering, Pattoor organized a three day hands-on Workshop on “IoT workshop on Power electronic drives and instrumentation”from 03/07/19 to 05/07/19. Teaching faculty of Electronics and Communication and Electrical and Electronics from outside colleges and SBCE participated in the workshop.
The Electronics & Communication Department has organized 5 Day Faculty Development Programme on the topic “Innovative Design and Product Development” in association with APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University during 8th to 12th July 2019. The programme intend to provide an insight into the various methods and strategies followed in product design and development process. The FDP was inaugurated by Prof. P. Chakravarthy of IIST, Trivandrum on 08-07-19 in the presence of Shri. K. K. Sivadasan, Treasurer, Sree Buddha Educational Society and Dr. S Suresh Babu, Principal, Sree Buddha College of Engineering, Pattoor.

Prabodhana’s Cancer Awareness Programme
On 30th October 2018, a one day seminar was organized by Dept. of Electronics & Communication Engineering, under Prabodhana aiming to enlighten women community on breast cancer and cervical cancer. Breast cancer affects one in eight women. It is the leading cause of cancer in women. In light of October being the breast cancer awareness month, a seminar on ‘Breast Cancer – Diagnosis & Treatment’ was delivered by Dr. Suresh Kumar, Civil Surgeon, District Cancer Care Unit, Mavelikkara District Hospital. The talk also included awareness on self screening techniques and treatments for identification of various types of cancers. The event was conducted at Conference Hall of Nooranad Grama Panchayath. The activity was organized for about 100 women of Nooranad Panchayath.

INDUSTRIAL VISIT AT MAHALAXMI VIDYUT PRIVATE LIMITED ,PUNE, MAHARASHTRA, INDIA

As a part of educational tour 39 students of S5 Electronics and Communication (2016-2020 batch) along with two faculty members had an industrial visit at ‘Mahalaxmi Vidyut Private Limited on 16/10/2018. They showed as various penstocks and generators currently used for power generation. It was an informative session for all of them.

Mahalaxmi Vidyut Private Limited is a Private incorporated on 27 May 2004. It is classified as Non-govt company and is registered at Registrar of Companies, Pune. Its authorized share capital is Rs. 170,000,000 and its paid up capital is Rs. 119,550,000.It is inolved in Production , collection and distribution of electricity registered in 2016. Mahalaxmi Vidyut Pvt. Ltd. has gained immense expertise in supplying & trading of Ups etc. The supplier company is located in Pune, Maharashtra and is one of the leading sellers of listed products.

Mr.Mahesh A.(Technical staff),Mr. Anandhu G.(P G scholar) and Mr.Justy John(S5 student) has attended a two day workshop “e-Yantra”-Lab Setup Initiative (eLSI) ,A project sponsored by MHRD through National Mission on Education through ICT ,organized by Department of computer science and engineering, IIT Bombay held at Eranad knowledge City Technical Campus ,Malappuram 8th -9th October 2018
Awareness Program on Health Hazards of CELL Phone
6th August 2018


Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, Sree Buddha College of Engineering in association with JOSCO College of Nursing Edappon, Pandalam organized the event to make the younger generation aware on health hazards of cell phones. Doctors and students from Josco college handled the session. Dr. S. Suresh Babu, Principal, Sree Buddha College of Engineering inaugurated the Program. Ms. Pavitha P.P., HoD ECE Dept presided the function. A survey on awareness was conducted. 50 students from different semesters were participated in the survey

FDP on Modern Trends in Power Electronic Devices, Circuits & Applications
18/06/2018 to 22/06/2018



The department of Electronics and Communication, Sree Buddha College of Engineering Pattoor organized a 5 Day Faculty Development Program on “Modern Trends in Power Electronic Devices, Circuits and Applications” from 18/06/2018 to 22/06/2018. The function was presided by Sri K K Sivadasan, Treasurer, SBCE Pattoor. Dr.S Suresh Babu Principal SBCE expressed his well wishes to the department and Prof. Alex V for taking initiatives for arranging such a program. He also detailed about the future trends and scope in the field of Power Electronics.
The 5 day FDP started with lectures by prominent faculty, and then followed by Lab sessions and hands on practices.
Experts from APC (American Power Conversion Corporation) displayed and demonstrated the working of their Inverters and Smart UPS; this was actually a new experience for the participants as they were able to see the industrial implementation of the theory learned.
Rayz LED Lighting solutions, Kollam gave hands on session on how to assemble a LED light by oneself in a very cost effective way and can be commercialized. The FDP was attended by faculties from various colleges.

“The World Telecommunication Day” celebrations


IE (I) student’s chapter Department of Electronics and Communication, Sree Buddha College of Engineering along with Institution of Engineers India Kollam Local Centre organized a technical talk on “ICT initiatives of BSNL in transforming Indian Telecommunication services” as part of “The World Telecommunication Day” on 19/06/2018.The function was presided by Dr. S Suresh Babu Principal SBCE, Pattoor and the chief Guest for this function was Mr.Venugopalan S, DGM (OP) BSNL Alappuzha.
The World Telecommunication Day is celebrated annually on 17 May since 1969 to mark the founding anniversary of International Telecommunications Union (ITU) which was initiated in 1865.This day reminds us of the most important factor of our lives: communication. The main goal of World Telecommunications Day (WTD) is to highlight the importance of communication and how information travels across the world. It also aims at increasing the awareness about the positives of communication technology among public thus by making information and communication more accessible to people residing in remote and rural areas

NATIONAL CONFERENCE ON “VLSI AND EMBEDDED SYSTEMS TECHNOLOGY ADVANCEMENTS”(VESTA 18’)


A Two day National conference on “VLSI AND EMBEDDED SYSTEMS TECHNOLOGY ADVANCEMENTS” (VESTA 18’) was held at Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering on 17th & 18th April 2018 as part of E2F2’18.
The registration for conference starts at 8.30 am on 17th April 2018. All participants were provided conference kits along with a lunch coupon. The common inaugural function of E2F2’18 held at conference hall , Library Block ,SBCE. Padma Shri Dr.G.Shankar was the chief guest for inaugural section. The inaugural section was came to an end by 11.30 am.
In the technical session of VESTA’18, we have conducted paper presentation on 17th April 2018 and poster presentation on 18th April 2018 from 1.45 p.m to 2.30 p.m. The technical session of VESTA’18 commenced at 12 noon at System Lab of ECE department. In the technical session of the conference, the conference chair person was Dr.Sreeni K.G.,Professor ,Department of ECE , College of Engineering, Trivandrum. He was co-chaired by Ms. Ambika Shekhar, HoD ,Dept. of ECE,SBCE and Mr. Alex V., Asst. Prof., Dept. of ECE,SBCE.
Ms.Ashly Thomas ,PG Scholar from TKMIT, Kollam won the best paper Award and Ms.Zaiba ,PG scholar from SBCE won the second paper Award .The prize and certificates for best paper and participation certificates were distributed by Dr.Sreeni K.G.
On 18th April 2018, we conducted poster presentation. Poster presentation was peer reviewed by Ms .Ambika Sekhar, HoD, Dept .of ECE,SBCE., Mr.Jayaraj V.S, Asst. Prof., Dept. of ECE,SBCE & Ms. Pooja S.Mohan, Asst. Prof., Dept. of ECE,SBCE.
The certificates were distributed to all participants and co-authors who presented the papers in VESTA’18.

INTERNSHIP @ National Institute of Electronics & Information Technology (NIELIT), Calicut

The students of 8th Semester Electronics and Communication Engineering Department of Sree Buddha College of Engineering had attended a One-Week Internship at National Institute of Electronics & Information Technology (NIELIT), Calicut from 12th March 2018 to 16th March 2018. NIELIT is an autonomous body of Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, Govt. of India. This centre is a premier organization for education, training, R&D and consulting in IT and Electronics. We completed a One week course on “Customized training in IoT”. Total 45 students attended the Internship held at NIELIT.
