ELECTRIFYING SUCCESS: CRAFTING A BRIGHT FUTURE FOR ELECTRICAL ENGINEERS

As part of the association activity, Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, SBCE conducted a motivation and career guidance on ELECTRIFYING SUCCESS: CRAFTING A BRIGHT FUTURE FOR ELECTRICAL ENGINEERS on 8th November, 2023 in Library Conference Hall, SBCE. The session was handled by Mr. Sanju P Cheriyan, a Certified Trainer. The trainer was able to maintain the energy level of the audience all through the session through the activities arranged in between. It was indeed a brainstorming experience, which mainly included guidance and motivation for students to fulfill their goals.

Workshop On “AWARENESS ON ELECTRICAL LICENSING AND SAFETY MEASURES”

Workshop On “AWARENESS ON ELECTRICAL LICENSING AND SAFETY MEASURES was organized by Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Sree Buddha College of Engineering, Pattoor at library seminar hall on 9th November, 2023 at 10am. Welcome address was delivered by Dr.Vinod V P, HOD EEE Dept. The session was handled by Ms. Deepa K C, Electrical inspector, Ms Anu Kuncheria, Deputy Electrical inspector and Mr.Sarath Mohan,Assistant Electrical Inspector Alappuzha. The speaker explained about different types of electrical licensing given to wireman, supervisor and contractor and their application procedures and requirements. They also discussed on safety measures to be followed while wiring. Vote of thanks was given by Mr.Aditya P Nair, Student Repesentative . The session was concluded at 1pm.

Seminar on “Industrial Safety & Awareness”

A seminar on “Industrial Safety & Awareness was organized by the department association EEIS, for VII semester EEE students at EEE seminar hall on 25th November, 2022 at 9.30am. The session was handled by Arcite School of Technical Education, Kottayam. Analysis of Electrical layout of the college was conducted and various safety features were discussed

EEE ASSOCIATION INAUGURATION&TALK ON “PROMISES OF AI IN ENGINEERING DATA ANALYTICS”

Prof. Siju K S, Associate Professor, Saintgits College of Engineering inaugurated the EEIS association activities for the year 2022 – 2023 on 27th October 2022 at a function arranged at the Library Seminar Hall. After the inaugural function, he gave a talk on ‘PROMISES OF AI IN ENGINEERING DATA ANALYTICS’ which was actually an eye opener.
The college Secretary Prof. V Prasad, Department HoD Dr. Vinod V P and student representative Ms. Neethu S also spoke in the ceremony. Ms. Siji S Idicula(2018-2022 EEE Batch topper) was awarded the ‘Chanakaya – Best Academic Performance’ award. Also the toppers of S1, S3 and S5 were given the merit award. In the afternoon, technical events were organized by the students

“KSEB POWER QUIZ 2022”

As part of the Electrical Department Association activity, Department of Electrical and Electronics, Sree Buddha College of Engineering, Pattoor in Association with KSEBL Officers Association organized a Power Quiz on 20th October 2022 at 1.00pm (IST) in EEE Department seminar hall.
The Quiz was specifically for the students of Semester 3/5/7 of Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, SBCE. Out of 60 students registered, 45 attended the Quiz Programme. The Cash prize and Certificates of all participants was funded by KSEBL. The quiz is involved with the fundamental questions of Basics of Electrical Engineering. Mr Adithya P Nair (Semester 5) and Mr Aravind C (Semester 7) occupied First and Second Prize for the contest respectively. The Program was Co-ordinated by Ananthu Vijayakumar, Assistant Prof, Department of EEE.

Two Day Workshop on
“Implementation and Design of Solar Power Plant”

As part of the department association activity, department of Electrical and Electronics, Sree Buddha College of Engineering, in association with Solar Tech Training Academy, Alappuzha organized a two day workshop on “Implementation and Design of Solar Power Plant” on 9th and 10th May, 2022 for sixth and eighth semester B.Tech students. Mr D Kannan, Director, Solar Training Academy, Alappuzha handled the various sessions of this programme. In this workshop, the students were given a chance to study and design solar power plant for small buildings. Around 27 students participated in the workshop.

Prof. Vinod V P, Head of the department, gave an introductory speech on the relevance of this workshop in their career path. In the forenoon session of both days the design steps involved in the implementation of solar power plants were discussed. The practical session and site visit to solar power plant of Sree Buddha College of Engineering demo were conducted in the afternoon session. The workshop got concluded at 3.30 pm on 10th May 2022 and certificates were given to participants.

 KNOW YOUR BRANCH BE A STEP AHEAD

 As part of the Electrical Department Association activity, the department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Sree Buddha College of Engineering, Pattoor organized a two day workshop for the B.Tech first and second year students from 20th to 21st April, 2022. The Workshop was conducted to make the students aware of basic Electrical and Electronic circuits for practical application. 34 students from the department participated in the program. The session was concluded at 3.30 pm on 21st April and certificates were given to participants.

 

Hands on Training on
“Insight to LaTeX Software”

As part of the department association activity, the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Sree Buddha College of Engineering, Pattoor organized a hands on training on “Insight to LaTeX Software” for the P.G Students and faculties on 7th April, 2022 at 10.00am. Mr. Prasanth V, Assistant Professor of ME Department was the speaker. 18 students from various departments and 8 faculties attended the program. The session was concluded at 1.30 pm and certificates were given to participants

Hands on Training on
“Embedded C and Arduino”

As part of the Electrical Department Association activity, Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Sree Buddha College of Engineering, Pattoor organized a hands on training on “Embedded C and Arduino”, for the faculties on 25th March, 2022 at 10.30am. Ms. Chama R Chandran, Assistant Professor of EEE Department was the speaker.
Embedded C is a most popular programming language in software field for developing electronic gadgets. In day-to-day life we use many electronic devices such as mobile phone, washing machine, digital camera, etc. The working of all these devices is based on microcontroller programmed by embedded C. Arduino board is actually a microcontroller board with peripherals and input/output port that was specifically designed for students to create small projects using the set of arduino libraries. In the session, the faculties were given a chance to have practical exposure on Embedded C in Proteus software and Arduino.

National conference on “Advanced scenarios in Electrical Engineering and its allied Technologies”
Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, of Sree Buddha College of Engineering, Pattoor has organized a National conference on “Advanced scenarios in Electrical Engineering and its allied Technologies” on July 10th and 11th 2021 through online platform Google Meet. Around 15 participants from different colleges registered and participated in the conference. During the inauguration ceremony, Professor Vinod V.P Head of the Department of Electrical and Electronics gave the welcome speech and Dr Mithun M S, Asst Prof, NIT Calicut, gave the key note address. Prof Manikandan delivered the vote of thanks.

KTU SPONSORED (ONLINE) ONE WEEK FACULTY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM On
“Power System Security & Internet of Things : A Future Energy Scenario ”

Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering of Sree Buddha College of Engineering, Pattoor P.O, Alappuzha conducted KTU sponsored one week Online Faculty Development Programme on “Power System Security & Internet of Things : A Future Energy Scenario ” from 15th to 19th March 2021. Around 100 participants from different colleges registered for the programme and 70 attended the programme.  Professor Vinod V P, Head of the Department  delivered the welcome speech and Dr K Krishnakumar, Principal of Sree Buddha College of Engineering gave the presidential address. Ms Chama R Chandran, Assistant Professor and Department Association Secretary delivered the vote of thanks.

On the first day, we had two introductory sessions. Dr R M Shereef, Professor, College of Engineering, Trivandrum handled the forenoon session on ‘A brief introduction to Power system security’. Prof. Joaquim Ignatious Monteiro, Assistant Professor of College of Engineering Trivandrum handled afternoon session on IoT technologies. The second day’s forenoon session was handled by Dr Prince A, Professor of Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Technology, Kottayam on the topic ‘Enhancement of Power system stability using IOTIPS’ . Afternoon session was taken by Prof. Nandan G, Assistant Professor of Sree Buddha College of Engineering, Pattoor on the topic IoT based Battery Management of Electric Vehicles.

Dr V Karthikeyan , Assistant Professor, National Institute of Technology, Calicut handled the third day sessions. Topic was architecture and key technology of IoT enabled smart grid. Next day forenoon ,Dr Santhoshkumar Hampannavar Professor, School of Electrical and Electronics Engineering,REVA University, Bengaluru took the session on Power System : A Cyber Physical Entity. Afternoon session was regarding Application of IoT in home automation taken by Dr Dileep G, Advay power, ED Cell, Govt. Engineering College, Idukki. On the last day we had a practical session by OPZET Solutions Pvt.Ltd .The resource persons were Er Nebu Pulickal, R & D Engineer and Er Basim Basheer, RF Engineer.
The event was conducted online through google meet. The time span of the programme was from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm in the morning and from 1 pm to 4 pm in the afternoon. At the end of each session, a doubt clearing session was provided for the participants.

Department of EEE Online Alumni Meet 2020 

Department of Electrical and Electronics, Sree Buddha College of Engineering, organized a first-ever Online Alumni Meet on 15th August 2020 at 8.30 pm. The alumni meet was conducted online through Google Meet Platform. Mr. Ananthu Vijayakumar, Assistant professor of EEE Department welcomed the gathering.  The function was presided over by Prof. Vinod V P, HOD of EEE Department. Dr S Suresh Babu, Principal of Sree Buddha College of Engineering, Pattoor was the chief guest of the event who inaugurated the function and  gave a talk on “The Importance of Alumni Meet”. The inaugural session was concluded by Vote of thanks delivered by Ms Chama R Chandran, Assistant professor of EEE Department

       During the meeting, an alumni representative was elected from the students for further annual meets. The programme also included an interactive session with Alumni and Staff of the EEE Department. Around 35 students of various passed out batches (2008-2018) attended the function. The students also shared their memories during the meet. They have assured their full support for the success of future Alumni Meets.

 Know Your Branch, Be a Step Ahead

As part of the Electrical Department Association activity, Department of Electrical and Electronics, Sree Buddha College of Engineering, organized a Two day Workshop on “Know Your Branch, Be a Step Ahead” on 9th and 10th January, 2020 for first year B Tech students. Faculty members of the department along with lab staffs handled various sessions of this programme. In this workshop, the students were given a chance to have practical exposure on various labs. Around 12 students participated in the workshop.

ENGINEERS DAY CELEBRATION AND ONE DAY SEMINAR

On “ELECTRIC VEHICLES – FOR SUSTAINABLE ENVIRONMENT”
The Institution of Engineers (India) Students Chapter of Department of Electrical and Electronics, Sree Buddha College of Engineering and The Institution of Engineers (India) Kollam Local Centre organized a seminar on 30th October 2019 on the topic “Electric Vehicles – For sustainable environment” as part of Engineers Day Celebration in remembrance of eminent scientist Shri Visvesvaraya. Nearly 75 participants attended the function. The programme was started by welcome address of Prof. Vinod V P, Head of Department, Electrical and Electronics Engg. During his welcome speech, he recalled the importance of electric vehicles in the current scenario. The function was presided over by Shri. K K Shivadasan, Treasurer, Sree Buddha Educational society.

POWER QUIZ 2018

EEE association organized a preliminary competition of “POWER QUIZ 2018” on 8th November 2018 at Conference Hall in association with KSEB Officers Association. Mr Stalin of S7, CE and Mr Harimurali of S3, CS secured first and second prize, and were selected for the District level competition.

As part of the Electrical Department Association activity inauguration, the Institution of Engineers (India) Students Chapter of Department of Electrical and Electronics, Sree Buddha College of Engineering, organized a Seminar on the topic “Electrical Safety Awareness” on 26th October 2018 at conference hall library block. Prof. Vinod V P, HOD of the department welcomed the gathering. The function was presided over by Shri K K Shivadasan, Treasurer, Sree Buddha Educational society. Mr Sarath Chandralal M N, Deputy Electrical Inspector, Department of Electrical Inspectorate Alappuzha district was the chief guest of the event and he inaugurated the Department activity and also gave an expert talk on “Electrical Safety Awareness”. 5 DAY FACULTY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME ON
‘RECENT ADVANCES IN INDUSTRIAL DRIVES & CONTROL’

A 5 day, faculty development programme on ‘Recent Advances in Industrial Drives & Control’ was hosted from 09th to 13th July 2018 in the college campus for the Post Graduate (PG) students and faculties. The FDP was formally inaugurated on 9/7/2018 by Dr. B Premlet, Professor in Physics, MES Institute of Technology and Management, Chathannoor & Former HoD, Dept. of Physics, T K M College of Engineering, Kollam, in the presence of Dr. S Suresh Babu, Principal, SBCE, Sri. K K Sivadasan, Treasurer, SBCE, Prof. Vinod V P, HOD, EEE, SBCE, Mr. Vishnu J and Ms. Gayathri V, FDP Coordinators.
The FDP was intended to develop awareness among PG students, researchers and faculties regarding the significance of Modern trends in modelling, simulation and control of complex systems for various new generation applications

Foundation Program in ICT for Education on 08th March 2018 to 12th April 2018

IIT Bombay conducted a Two-Week AICTE approved FDP for college faculties on ”Foundation Program in ICT for Education” from under Blended MOOCs (Massive Open Online Courses) at Sree Buddha College of Engineering, Pattoor (Remote Center of IIT Bombay, RCID 1302).

Pedagogy for Online and Blended Teaching-Learning Process [3rd May 2018 to 30th May 2018]

IIT Bombay conducted a Two-Week AICTE approved FDP for college Faculties on ”Pedagogy for Online and Blended Teaching-Learning Process” from 3rd May 2018 to 30th May 2018 under Blended MOOCs (Massive Open Online Courses) at Sree Buddha College of Engineering, Pattoor (Remote Center of IIT Bombay, RCID 1302). This FDP is conducted under the Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya National Mission on Teachers and Training.

NATIONAL CONFERENCE ON EMERGING TRENDS IN GREEN ELECTRICAL TECHNOLOGIES (NCETGET ’18)

Engineering Education for Facing the Future (E2F2’18) is the second annual conference series organized by Sree Buddha College of Engineering, Pattoor. The conference series was co-sponsored by the Kerala State Council for Science Technology and Environment and Government of Kerala. It was held during April 17-18, 2018. It was a common forum for academics, industrial experts, researchers and students of engineering and technology to present their research findings, discuss recent advancements and to explore future directions in the emerging areas.

9th Annual district level seminar series competition of KSEB Engineer’s Association held at Sree Buddha College of Engineering, Pattoor.

The annual district-level seminar series competition of Kerala State Electricity Board Engineers Association (KSEBEA) was held at Sree Buddha College of Engineering (SBCE), Pattoor, Alappuzha, on 13th March 2018, Tuesday, in association with the Electrical & Electronics Engineering (EEE) Dept of the college and supported by IEEE PES Kerala Chapter. The winners are: First – Mr. Manu B. & Mr. Arun Prasad (EEE, S8) Second – Mr. Deepak Das Pillai & Mr. Chandu Chandran (EEE, S4)

“ELECTROTSAV 2K18” was held at Sree Buddha College of Engineering (SBCE), Pattoor, Alappuzha, on 9th February 2018, Friday. The programme started with the welcome address by Mr. Vishnu J, Assistant Professor & Department Association Staff Secretary, EEE Department and the inauguration was done by Mr. Sreekumar M K, Energy Efficiency Engineer, BPCL, Cochin Refinery. Dr. S. Suresh Babu, Principal, SBCE, Pattoor gave the presidential address. Prof. Vinod V P, HoD of EEE department presented department annual report 2017 in front of the august audience. Mr K K Sivadasan, Treasurer, SBCE, Pattoor has delivered felicitation speech. Vote of thanks was delivered by Anandhu Ramesh of S8 EEE. Later Mr Sreekumar M K, Energy Efficiency Engineer, BPCL, Cochin Refinery & Mr Azeem K, Founder & Senior Consultant, Alenso Energy, Kochi delivered a Technical session on Energy Conservation and Sustainable Energy respectively with various practical examples, which made the talk more interesting and interactive. As a part of the programme, two inter department competition such as poster presentation, concept Power Point Presentation and Project Expo were conducted at EEE Department. Students from various schools along with the faculty members visited to watch “ELECTROTSAV 2K18”. The winners are: Concept PPT First – Ms. Fathima Thangal & Ms. Alisha Moni (CE, S4) Second – Mr. Kishor Manohar & Ms. Rajeswari A (CE, S4). IEEE student branch of Sree Buddha College of Engineering organized a one day “Managerial and Entrepreneurial Workshop” which was held on 30th January 2018. Welcome speech was given by Asst Prof.  Vijina K, Dept of Electrical and Electronics .The inauguration was done by chief guest Shri Binu Sankar, who was also the resource person of the event. Principal Dr S Suresh Babu delivered the presidential address, followed by felicitations from K K Sivadasan, Treasurer, SBCE and  Prof. Vinod V P, Head of the Department, Electrical and Electronics, SBCE. Vote of thanks was given by SB Chair Manu B.
Shri. Binu Sankar who was the resource person has been with EY for 5 + years and brings over 11 years of experience in building collaboration platforms across universities, start-up community and the government.


IEEE SPECTRUM QUIZ
The IEEE student branch has decided to conduct a quiz competition in order to increase their attention.
As a result spectrum competition on 25th January 2018 at seminar hall in Electrical and Electronics department from 12:30pm to 1:30pm was conducted.


IEEE SPECTRUM TALK-2K18
The students of department of Electrical and Electronics engineering in association with IEEE conducted a spectrum talk based on the topics in spectrum magazine as a seminar class. It was coordinated by S2 electrical and electronics department students.
This was conducted on 18th January 2018 from 12.30pm to 1.00pm.The seminar was taken by Kiran C.K, EEE S2. The topic was about “DRONES MAKE A SPECIAL DELIVERY-MOSQUITOES” The members of IEEE from 1st year, 2nd year and 3rd year B Tech students were present in this talk.

TECHNICAL AWARENESS & ON THE JOB TRAINING PROGRAMME’ – AN OUTREACH PROGRAMME
A ‘Technical Awareness & On The Job Training Programme’ – an Outreach Programme was conducted by the association of Electrical & Electronics Engineering (EEE) Dept. of Sree Buddha College of Engineering, Pattoor 12th January 2018.  The programme started by 11 am followed by the Welcome Address by Prof. Vinod V P, HoD of EEE department. Dr. E K Bhass, HoD, CE, Dr. Gouri Antherjanam, Professor, CE & Prof. Ambika Sekhar, HoD, ECE have delivered felicitation speech. Vote of thanks was delivered by Anandhu Ramesh of S8 EEE.
Later Dr E K Bhass, HoD, CE, Mr Vishnu J, Assistant Professor, EEE & Mr. Sabi S, Assistant Professor, ECE delivered a Technical session with various practical examples, which made the talk more interesting and interactive. After that the students were split into two batches. The Civil students visited various labs in CE Department. The rest of the students visited the Electrical Machines Lab & High Voltage Engineering Lab, Department of EEE. Later the students visited 50 KW On-Grid Connected roof top Solar Power Plant. Live demonstration and explanation of 50 kW On-Grid Solar panel was done by Mr. Vishnu J, Asst. Prof., EEE. By 2:30pm the programme was concluded.

‘PRABODHANA’ – ENLIGHTENMENT THROUGH SCIENCE
On 12th December 2017 Sree Buddha College of Engineering, Pattoor organized a program sponsored by Kerala State Council for Science, Technology and Environment (KSCSTE) under Science Popularization Programme. Students from NSS Polytechnic Pandalam attended the program along with the faculty members of our institution. Dr. Mithun M S, Associate Professor, Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering was the speaker of the talk.

TWO DAY WORKSHOP ON ‘EMBEDDED SYSTEMS’
A Two Day Workshop on ‘Embedded Systems’ was conducted by the association of Electrical & Electronics Engineering (EEE) Dept. of Sree Buddha College of Engineering, Pattoor on 26th & 27th October 2017 for UG and PG students, in association with MATT Engineering Equipment, Nagercoil, Kanyakumari..

Power Quiz-2017
The College (preliminary) level ‘Power Quiz-2017’ competition of Kerala State Electricity Board Officers’ Association (KSEBOA) was held at Sree Buddha College of Engineering (SBCE), Pattoor, Alappuzha, on 25th October 2017, Wednesday, in association with the Electrical & Electronics Engineering (EEE) Dept. of the college. KSEBEOA has been regularly conducting this competition since 1996, in order to motivate and enhance the understanding of up-coming electrical engineers in the domain of Power System.
The program started with the welcome address by Prof. Vinod V P, HOD – Dept. of EEE, SBCE. 47 students from different departments of SBCE were participated in the event. The winners are:
First – Manu B Pillai (EEE, S7)
Second – Akhil P Kumar (CSE, S3).
The winners are selected for district level competition. 

HRIDAYASANGAMAM
A social activity named as “Hridayasangamam”  was conducted as a part of extension activity of the association of Electrical & Electronics Engineering (EEE) Dept. at Santhwanam Charitable Society, Muttom on 1st September 2017. Special thanks to 2015-19 batch.

ISTE WORKSHOP on ELECTRIC POWER SYSTEMS
Conducted By IIT Kharagpur (NMEICT, MHRD Project) at Sree Buddha College of Engineering, Pattoor (Remote Centre ID: 1302)
Electrical Power System is a core course for any undergraduate programme in Electrical Engineering. 
IIT Kharagpur conducted the ISTE Short Term Training Program for Faculties on “Electric Power System” from July 10, 2017 to July 15, 2017 under Blended MOOCs (Massive Open Online Courses) at Sree Buddha College of Engineering, Pattoor (RCID 1302). ISTE STTP is funded by the National Mission on Education through ICT (MHRD, Government of India). Teachers who participated in this program attended the tutorial and lab sessions conducted in the remote centres. The lecture transmission and live interaction took place in distance mode using A-VIEW technology through internet at the selected remote centers across the country.

‘conserVE’ –COLLEGIATE PROJECT DESIGN COMPETITION

‘conserVE’, an inter collegiate project design competition was organized by KSEBEA Alappuzha unit and Sree Buddha Engineering College, Pattoor  for engineering students on 6.4.2013. The competition aimed to encourage budding engineers to apply their imagination, enthusiasm, critical thinking and creativity to technology innovations that can contribute to nation building.

The final round of competition held on this day included presentation of the 22 selected project designs in the area of energy conservation and energy efficiency.  Sri. C.V Subramanian, General Manager, NTPC-Kayamkulam, Chief guest of the day, inaugurated the programme at Sree Budha College of Engineering, Pattor. Er. The project entitled ‘Production of Biodiesel From Ayurvedic Waste Oil By Solar Heating Technique’ investigated by Lakshmi. T. R., Ponni M. Mohan & Athira Raj of the host College won the first prize.

TWO WEEK ISTE WORKSHOP ON CONTROL SYSTEMS, IIT KHARAGPUR

 The Department of Electrical & Electronics Engineering, in association with IIT Kharagpur organized a two week (ISTE) workshop on Control Systems from December 2 to 12, 2014. Faculty members from various colleges attended the same. IIT Kharagpur and Sree Buddha College of Engineering, Pattoor collaborated to enhance the teaching skills of their faculties in core engineering and science subjects. The lecture transmission and live interaction took place in distant mode using the AVIEW technology through internet, at Sree Buddha College of Engineering, Pattoor (RCID 1302). This initiative was a part of the ‘National Mission on Education through ICT’ which was supported and funded by MHRD, Govt. of India.

 ONE DAY PGIF WORKSHOP ON MOTIVATION AND GUIDANCE FOR RESEARCH

On 13th July 2015 M Tech students of Electrical and Electronics of Sree Buddha College of Engineering organized a talk on “Motivation and Guidance for Research” under Post Graduation Interdisciplinary Forum (PGIF). Dr Achuth Shankar S Nair, HOD, Department of Computational Biology and Bioinformatics, University of Kerala. The programme was organized at Electrical Dept. seminar hall. The programme started by 10 am with HOD of EEE Department, Prof. Arumugasamy welcoming the dignitaries and audience. He also shared his views on Research and importance of organizing such talks. Then Guest of Honour Dr. Achuth Shankar was felicitated by Principal. After his speech, questions were collected and were answered by the Chief Guest. The session came to an end by 12.30 pm.

ONE DAY WORKSHOP ON RENEWABLE INTEGRATION TO KERALA GRID

A one day workshop on “Renewable Integration to Kerala grid” was organized by the Electrical & Electronics Department Association DELTA at the electrical department seminar hall on 15th October 2015. Prof. S Arumugasamy, the head of the department of EEE welcomed the gathering. Dr S Suresh Babu, Principal, Sree Buddha College of Engineering delivered the presidential address. PG dean Dr E K Bhass also shared the Dias. The workshop was inaugurated and conducted by Dr Sasidharan Sreedharan, Post – Doctoral Researcher, Renewable Energy Design Laboratory, University of Hawaii, Manoa, USA. A brief description of electrical power generation and integration of renewable energy globally, nationally and state wise, were presented. The challenges of electrical power generation using renewable energy were discussed. Later, an interactive session with PG students was arranged. The function was organized by the staff coordinator of the EEE dept, Prof. Vishnu J along with the student co-coordinator Mr Bibin Thankachan.

 NATIONAL LEVEL WORKSHOP ON “EMERGING TRENDS IN SPECIAL ELECTRICAL MACHINES”

A three day national level workshop on “Emerging trends in Special Electrical Machines” was conducted by the Dept. of Electrical & Electronics Engineering of Sree Buddha College of Engineering (SBCE), Pattoor from 23rd to 25th November 2016 in the college campus for the Post Graduate (PG) students and faculties of the Dept. of Electrical & Electronics Engineering (EEE) of SBCE as well as other colleges in Kerala. The inaugural ceremony was performed on 23-11-2016 by the chief guest of the day – Dr. Mini, Associate Professor, College of Engineering Trivandrum (CET), in the presence of Dr Suresh Babu, Principal – SBCE, Mr K K Sivadasan, Treasurer, SBCE, Dr. Benny Thomas, HOD – EEE, SBCE, Dr Bhass, PG Dean and Dr Mithun M S, the Workshop Coordinator. The workshop was intended to develop awareness among PG students, researchers and faculties regarding the significance of Special Electrical Machines (SEM) in today’s world owing to their much better performance features and lesser energy consumption than the conventional rotating machines that are currently used.

 ANNUAL DISTRICT LEVEL SEMINAR SERIES COMPETITION OF KSEB ENGINEER’S ASSOCIATION HELD AT SREE BUDDHA COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING, PATTOOR.

 The annual district-level seminar series competition of Kerala State Electricity Board Engineers Association (KSEBEA) was held at Sree Buddha College of Engineering (SBCE), Pattoor, Alappuzha, on 14th February 2017, Tuesday, in association with the Electrical & Electronics Engineering (EEE) Dept of the college and supported by IEEE Kerala Chapter.  The topic for the year 2017’s competition was “Power System Harmonics – Sources, Issues and Mitigation”.

The program started with the welcome address by Dr Mithun M.S, HOD – Dept of EEE, SBCE and the inauguration was done by college Principal, Dr S Suresh Babu. Er M Anil, Executive Engineer & Chairman – KSEBEA, Alappuzha Unit, gave the presidential address. Students from different colleges participated in the event. In addition to the seminar competition, there was also a poster competition for PG students. The winners were judged by Er. P. Raghu, Chief Engineer – KSEB (Rtd.), Er. GangadharaKurup, Dty. Chief Engineer – KSEB (Rtd.), Er. Abdul Vahid K. J., Asst. Executive Engineer, KSEB – Mavelikkara unit, and Dr. A. Prince, Assosiate Professor, R.I.T Pampady. The program was coordinated by Prof. Vishnu. J and Prof. Bibin Thankachan of Dept. of EEE, SBCE and it concluded with a vote of thanks by Er. Sambath, Unit Secretary – KSEBEA, Alappuzha.

 ONE DAY PGIF WORKSHOP ON STRESS MANAGEMENT AND RELAXATION TRAINING

On 15th March 2017, M Tech students of EEE Dept. organized a talk on “Stress Management and Relaxation Training” under Post Graduation interdisciplinary Forum (PGIF). Later, the Principal, Dr S Suresh Babu and College Treasurer Sri K. K. Sivadasan, addressed the audience. They shared their views on stress management and importance of organizing such talks. During the training, Dr. Jaico K Paulose presented various practical examples which made the programme more interesting and interactive.

KARMA 2K17 (EXTENTION ACTIVITY)

            KARMA, a social welfare initiative of the student fraternity of Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE) of Sree Buddha College of Engineering (SBCE), Pattoor took place at Mavelikara General Hospital from 25th Feb 2017 to 27th Feb 2017. It was flagged off by Sri. R. Rajesh, MLA, on 25th February 2017 and students, along with the staff of the EEE dept. performed the electrical renovation of two blocks of the hospital. The programme ended up with dedication ceremony on 27th February 2017. The valedictory meeting was presided by Dr. Mithun M S, HOD, Dept. of EEE. The renovated wards were dedicated by Dr. S Suresh Babu, Principal, Sree Buddha College of Engineering to the nursing Superintendent C. Rosamma. Staff coordinators of the EEE dept, Prof. Vishnu J and Prof. Bibin Thankachan along with the student co-coordinators, Mr. Munna Dev S and Ms. Amritha Ganesh and other staff and students of the dept. were present during the dedication ceremony.

‘INITIUM’ – 2017, A ONE DAY MANAGERIAL AND PRODUCT DESIGN WORKSHOP

 The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering in association with IEEE conducted a one day ‘Managerial And Product Design Workshop’ named as ‘Initium’ for benefit of students. This workshop was all about developing the managerial and product design skills of students. This was conducted on 9th March 2017. The resource person was Mr. Thomson Tom. Students of various departments including ECE and CSE participated in the workshop and enriched their knowledge and skill in product designing. Mr. Thomson Tom conducted a contest which all students participated in groups of seven. They were asked to design a product which helps to address any recent issue which affects the society badly. Different groups came with different ideas and all of them designed products as per their own ideas and imaginations.
