FDP IN MATHEMATICAL FOUNDATIONS FOR MACHINE LEARNING
VENUE: SREE BUDDHA COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING, PATTOOR
DATE: 22/03/2021 – 26/03/2021
COORDINATORS: Ms. Lakshmi S., AP, Dept. of CSE
Ms. Asha S., AP, Dept. of Mathematics & Basic Sciences
ABOUT THE FDP:
The FDP is specially designed to give a mathematical insight on the learning process in machine learning and deep learning. In recent timesthere has been a massiveincrease in applications based on deep learning. However there has been no clarity on how these architectures learn volumes of data taken from multidimensional space. When such architectures reach saturation, there is a need to look at newer learning algorithms and architectures. This is possible only if the mathematical aspects are clearly understood. This FDP will suit all those who want to do good research in areas using machine learning and deep learning. This course will present the basic mathematical foundations that are essential for machine learning.
The FDP is jointly organized by the Department of Computer Science and Engineering and Department of Mathematics and Basic Sciences, SBCE, Pattoor and financially sponsored by APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University, Thiruvananthapuram.

Free and open-source software (FOSS) is computer software that can be classified as both free software and open-source software. That is, anyone is freely licensed to use, copy, study, and change the software in any way, and the source code is openly shared so that people are encouraged to voluntarily improve the design of the software. This is in contrast to proprietary software, where the software is under restrictive copyright and the source code is usually hidden from the users.
The benefits of using FOSS include decreasing software costs, increasing security and stability (especially in regard to malware), protecting privacy, and giving users more control over their own hardware. Free, open-source operating systems such as Linux and descendants of BSD are widely utilized today, powering millions of servers, desktops, smart phones (e.g. Android), and other devices. Free software licenses and open-source licenses are used by many software packages
